Policy and Procedure Manual
P&P Manual
The pharmacy’s written set of policies and standard operating procedures covering how it meets federal and state requirements. Inspectors routinely ask to see it.
In depth
A current P&P manual documents how the pharmacy handles privacy and security, controlled substances, compounding (USP <795>/<797>/<800> where applicable), recordkeeping, emergencies, and more - and shows that staff are trained on those procedures. Because requirements differ by state and change over time, the manual has to be state-specific and kept up to date; an outdated or generic manual is a common inspection finding.
