USP Chapter 795

USP <795>

The United States Pharmacopeia general chapter that sets standards for compounding nonsterile preparations (creams, capsules, oral liquids, and similar).

In depth

USP <795> covers the minimum standards for nonsterile compounding: ingredient quality, beyond-use dating, facilities and equipment, documentation, and personnel competency. While USP publishes the chapters, they become enforceable through state boards of pharmacy and accreditation bodies that adopt them. A pharmacy that compounds nonsterile preparations is expected to have written procedures, trained staff, and records that demonstrate conformance.
